Gentle & supple wine; lingering soft, plummy fruits:  cellaring potential of four to eight years.

BACKGROUND: Fruits from an experimental vineyard planted to a vine density of 17,000 vines per hectare.  Designed for the study of vine de-vigoration and low cropping. Wine with attractive perfume & spice: subtle and feminine,  with flavour length, fine acidity and strength to improve up to eight years in the cellar.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES:  A softer wine than our Estate vineyard production, but with heady perfume, spice and growing flavour at the end. Located only 250 metres from our best vineyard, the wines display a different structure and form,  with lingering flavour and very gentle tannins. The richness of fruits in 2017 show in this wine: it is quite a long-flavoured mouthful! Needs a few years in the cellar: it may be at its best at eight to ten years. (Phillip Jones, April 2019)

INDEPENDENT INDUSTRY REVIEW: Inviting raspberry and red cherry perfume amongst savoury notes of air-dried meats, subtle herbal scents of rosemary and aniseed, breathing out there’s deep-seated smoky Indian spices and pronounced, flinty-iron filings minerality, and a whiff of coffee grinds and chocolate suggest toasty oak. Bursting with intense raspberry on the front palate, building in energy and weight with plush red berry fruits oscillating sweet and sour to an intense tanginess and super-concentrated juicy, crunchy raspberry, cool steely acidity and red currant crispness to the farewell amongst a dark earthy minerality. This is seriously concentrated with fine yet assertive tannins, I sense a much tighter structure with a deep core of tension, complexity, savouriness and infused minerality. An impressive show of energy, concentration and purity. It should evolve over 5 to 10 years.  (Curtis Marsh, April 2019)
